Is the Lisboa Card worth it?
The €31 adult card saves €5.44 on a day with the Jerónimos cloister, Belém Tower and two tram rides. On a day with the castle alone it costs €10.56 more.
Both sums assume a full-price adult, entries bought separately at the counter price, and rides at €1.72 on a card you already hold. Change any of those and the answer changes with it: a reduced entry, a family ticket, a child under 13.

What the card costs
Adult 16 and over: €31 for 24 hours, €51 for 48, €62 for 72. A child of 4 to 15 pays €21, €28 or €35, and under 4 needs no card. The average per day is arithmetic, not a promise: whether a longer card pays depends on the whole plan.
Who you are changes the answer
Under 4 needs no card. From 4 to 12 the state monuments are free while the child card still costs €21. From 13 to 15 the card is €21 and entries are half price. From 16 to 24 the card is the adult €31 but entries are half price. From 25 to 64 both are full. At 65 and over entries are half price again.
Count it for your own day
Saving = what you would pay separately − what the card costs. On the left put the entries at the price you would actually pay, with any reduction you are entitled to, plus transport for the same journeys. On the right put the card, plus anything it does not include and you still want.
From five rides a day a 24-hour Carris and metro pass at €7.25 is cheaper than paying €1.72 a ride, so that is the number to compare against. If the day involves a CP train to Sintra or Cascais, the transport alternative is the €11.40 pass that includes those trains.
What the card covers
Included at no extra cost: entry to 51 museums and monuments, among them the Jerónimos cloister, Belém Tower and the castle; buses, trams, the metro and the lifts; CP trains to Sintra, Cascais and the south bank; fast track at twelve places.
Paid separately or shut: the palaces in Sintra (Pena, Regaleira and the Moorish castle); tours, boats and food; the National Tile Museum and the National Ancient Art Museum, both closed for renovation; a timed ticket where a monument sells one, because fast track is not a booking.
