Is a Lisbon funicular cheaper with a travel card?
Two Lisbon funicular journeys cost €3.44 in zapping credit on an existing card. That saves €0.86 against the €4.30 funicular ticket for up to two journeys.
A new Navegante occasional card with the smallest zapping top-up costs €3.50. One €1.72 journey leaves €1.28 on the card.
Two zapping journeys need at least a €5 top-up on a new card. You pay €5.50 and keep €1.56 in credit. If you won't use that balance, the €4.30 funicular ticket costs less to buy.
If both funicular rides fit within an hour, the €1.90 Carris/Metro ticket covers that hour. A new €0.50 card brings the total to €2.40. For a single ride, that costs less than starting with zapping.
Is the Santa Justa lift worth €6.20?
The €6.20 Santa Justa ticket includes up to two lift journeys and the viewpoint. Choose it if you want both.
If you only want to ride the Santa Justa lift, zapping costs €1.72 per journey on an existing topped-up card. Two lift journeys use €3.44 in credit.
When is a Lisbon day pass cheaper?
Five separate zapping journeys use €8.60 in travel credit. The €7.25 Carris/Metro pass saves €1.35 if those journeys fall within 24 hours.
Four zapping journeys use €6.88 in travel credit. That is €0.37 less than the €7.25 pass costs. If rides fit within the same hour, compare the €1.90 Carris/Metro hour ticket before buying a pass.
The €7.25 Carris/Metro pass does not include the €0.50 Navegante occasional card. Zapping also needs a card. The fare comparison counts credit used on journeys.
The €11.40 pass covers Carris and Metro plus CP trains on the Sintra, Cascais, Azambuja and Sado lines for 24 hours. If you only need Carris and Metro, their 24-hour pass costs €7.25.
